Ingredients

  • 6 –8 fresh blackberries
  • 8 –10 fresh mint leaves plus a sprig for garnish
  • 1 lime juiced (about 1 ounce)
  • 1 –2 teaspoons granulated sugar or simple syrup, to taste
  • 2 ounces white rum
  • Club soda to top off the glass
  • Ice crushed or cubed

Instructions

  • In a sturdy glass or shaker, add blackberries, mint leaves, lime juice, and sugar (or simple syrup).
  • Using a muddler, gently press and twist the ingredients to release the blackberry juices and mint oils.
  • Pour in 2 ounces of white rum and stir gently to combine the flavors.
  • Fill the glass with crushed ice, packing it tightly to chill the drink and suspend the muddled ingredients.
  • Slowly pour chilled club soda over the ice until the glass is nearly full. Stir gently to incorporate.
  • Garnish with a sprig of mint and a few blackberries. Add a lime wedge or wheel for an extra touch.
  • Serve immediately with a straw.

Notes

Pro Tip: For a smoother drink, strain the muddled mixture before adding ice and club soda.
