Ingredients

  • 2 oz vodka
  • 1 oz freshly brewed espresso chilled
  • 1 oz coffee liqueur e.g., Kahlúa
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar syrup
  • Ice cubes
  • 3 coffee beans or a sprinkle of cocoa powder optional garnish

Instructions

  • Place your martini glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes, or fill it with ice water to cool while you prepare the cocktail.
  • Make fresh espresso and allow it to cool to room temperature. If short on time, place the espresso in the fridge for a quick chill.
  • Add the vodka, coffee liqueur, chilled espresso, and brown sugar syrup to a cocktail shaker.
  • Fill the shaker halfway with ice cubes to chill and dilute the mixture slightly.
  • Secure the shaker lid and shake hard for 15–20 seconds. The goal is to create a frothy foam from the espresso while thoroughly chilling the drink.
  • Strain the cocktail into the chilled martini glass using a fine mesh strainer for a silky-smooth texture.
  • For the final touch, garnish with three coffee beans for luck or a light dusting of cocoa powder.

Notes

Pro Tip: Make extra brown sugar syrup to store in the fridge—it’s versatile for cocktails, coffee, and desserts!
