- 2 oz tequila blanco or reposado
- 1 oz triple sec
- 1 oz freshly squeezed lime juice
- 1/2 oz agave syrup
- 1/2 oz chili-infused simple syrup
- Chili-salt rim lime wheel, small red chili pepper (optional garnishes)
For the Chili-Infused Simple Syrup
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1-2 small red chilies or jalapeño slices
Combine 1/2 cup water and 1/2 cup sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat.
Stir until the sugar dissolves, then add 1-2 sliced chilies.
Simmer for 5 minutes, then strain and let cool completely. Store leftover syrup in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
Mix 2 tablespoons of coarse salt with 1/2 teaspoon of chili powder on a small plate.
Rub a lime wedge around the rim of a glass and dip it into the chili-salt mixture to coat.
In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine: 2 oz tequila, 1 oz triple sec, 1 oz lime juice, 1/2 oz agave syrup, 1/2 oz chili-infused simple syrup.
Shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds.
Fill the prepared glass with fresh ice.
Strain the margarita into the glass, leaving the ice from the shaker behind.
Add a lime wheel to the rim and place a small red chili pepper on top for a festive touch.
