  • 1 oz vodka
  • 1 oz coffee liqueur e.g., Kahlua
  • 1 oz gingerbread syrup store-bought or homemade, recipe below
  • 2 oz cream or milk for a lighter option
  • Whipped cream optional, for garnish
  • Ground cinnamon or nutmeg optional, for garnish
  • Crushed gingerbread cookies for rim optional, for garnish

Homemade Gingerbread Syrup

  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon molasses
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice

Instructions

  • If you’d like to rim the glass, dip the rim of a short glass (like an old-fashioned glass) in water or simple syrup.
  • Press the rim into crushed gingerbread cookies to coat. Set aside.
  • Add ice cubes to the glass to chill the drink.
  • Pour in 1 oz vodka, 1 oz coffee liqueur, and 1 oz gingerbread syrup. These form the rich, spiced base of the cocktail.
  • Slowly pour 2 oz cream over the top of the drink for a layered effect.
  • Use a spoon to gently mix the ingredients. Stir just enough to combine while maintaining the creamy texture.
  • Top with a dollop of whipped cream. Sprinkle ground cinnamon or nutmeg on top for a festive finish.
  • Add a small gingerbread cookie on the side or on the rim as a playful garnish.
  • Enjoy this rich, spiced holiday cocktail while cold!

How to Make Homemade Gingerbread Syrup

  • Add spices and simmer for 2–3 minutes. Remove from heat and cool.
  • Strain if needed and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
