  • 2 oz dark rum spiced or aged recommended
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup hot water
  • Pinch of ground cloves optional
  • Cinnamon stick lemon peel, or orange peel (optional, for garnish)

Instructions
 

  • In a small bowl, mix together the butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a pinch of cloves (if using) until smooth and well combined.
  • Add the spiced butter mixture to a heatproof mug.
  • Pour the dark rum over the butter mixture.
  • Carefully pour 1 cup of hot water into the mug.
  • Stir gently until the butter melts completely and the mixture is fully blended.
  • For a festive touch, add a cinnamon stick as a stirrer.
  • Optionally, garnish with a twist of lemon or orange peel for a bright, citrusy aroma.
  • Enjoy immediately while hot.
