Ingredients
  

  • 1 gallon apple cider
  • 4-5 cinnamon sticks
  • 1-2 whole star anise
  • 5-6 whole cloves
  • 1 orange sliced
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar or honey optional
  • Apple slices optional for garnishing
  • Cinnamon sticks optional for garnishing

Instructions
 

  • Combine cider, spices, and orange slices in a pot or slow cooker.
  • Heat until simmering; reduce to low and simmer 30-60 minutes (or 2-3 hours in a slow cooker).
  • Strain and serve hot, garnished as desired.
  • Keep warm in a slow cooker if serving at a gathering.
