For the margarita:
- 2 oz tequila blanco or reposado
- 1 oz triple sec or orange liqueur
- 2 oz fresh mango puree
- 1 oz freshly squeezed lime juice
- 1-2 slices fresh jalapeño adjust for spice preference
- 1 tbsp agave syrup or honey
- Ice cubes
For the rim and garnish:
- 2 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tbsp coarse salt
- Lime wedge
- Thin slice of mango or jalapeño optional garnish
Mix chili powder and coarse salt on a small plate.
Rub a lime wedge around the rim of your glass to moisten it.
Dip the rim into the chili-salt mixture, twisting to coat evenly. Set aside.
Blend fresh mango pieces (or thawed frozen mango) until smooth. Add a splash of water if needed for consistency.
Measure 2 oz of the puree for the cocktail.
In a cocktail shaker, combine: 2 oz tequila, 1 oz triple sec, 2 oz mango puree, 1 oz lime juice, 1 tbsp agave syrup, 1-2 jalapeño slices.
Add ice and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds, or until the shaker feels frosty.
Fill the rimmed glass with fresh ice.
Strain the margarita into the glass using a fine-mesh strainer to catch seeds and pulp.
Garnish with a slice of mango, a jalapeño wheel, or a lime wedge.
