Ingredients

  • 2 oz tequila blanco
  • 2 oz freshly squeezed grapefruit juice
  • 1 oz lime juice about 1 lime
  • ½ oz agave syrup or simple syrup
  • 2 oz club soda
  • 1-2 slices of fresh jalapeño
  • Salt for rimming the glass optional
  • Ice cubes
  • Grapefruit wedge or jalapeño slice for garnish

Instructions

  • Rim a tall glass with salt or a chili-salt blend for extra flavor. Rub a lime wedge along the rim, then dip the glass into a plate of salt. Set the glass aside.
  • In a cocktail shaker, add 1-2 slices of fresh jalapeño. Muddle gently to release the spicy oils. Adjust the quantity based on your desired spice level.
  • Add 2 oz tequila blanco, 2 oz freshly squeezed grapefruit juice, 1 oz lime juice, and ½ oz agave syrup to the shaker with the muddled jalapeño.
  • Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds to chill and combine.
  • Fill the prepared glass with ice. Strain the cocktail mixture into the glass to remove jalapeño seeds and pulp.
  • Add 2 oz of club soda to the glass. Stir gently to combine.
  • Garnish with a grapefruit wedge, a jalapeño slice, or both for a festive look.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy!
