6 Best Breweries in Sedona, AZ

I know what you’re thinking: Sedona for beer? Really?

With its beautiful red rocks, it’s hardly the place to create a thriving beer industry. It’s known for its spiritual and natural beauty, not for its breweries.

But honestly, you’d be surprised!

Don’t let the small size of this town fool you – it has some incredible breweries that are worth checking out. Lo and behold, there are some of the best breweries in Sedona that rival even the biggest cities in the US.

Here’s a list of my top six picks for best breweries in Sedona, AZ that craft beer lovers in the city will definitely need to visit:

1. Oak Creek Brewing Company

Address: 336 AZ-179 Suite D201, Sedona, AZ 86336 (Located on the 2nd floor of the Tlaquepaque Arts & Shopping Village)

Known for: Cheap eats, outdoor dining with scenic views

This one is probably the most popular and most well known of the Sedona breweries. Oak Creek Brewing Co is Sedona’s only combination production craft brewery and brewpub that’s been a city staple for the past 25 years. This local brewery is known for having some of the best beer in the city.

It’s a small but mighty little operation that packs a punch!

Oak Creek Brewing Co. serves up delicious craft beers from their location in downtown Sedona. Their award-winning selection of ales and lagers include seasonal offerings like their popular Sedona Red Ale, as well as a variety of signature IPAs.

There’s even a tasting room where guests can sample their beer before making a purchase.

Their craft beers are always unique and interesting, with a wide range of seasonal offerings. They have a colorful selection of beers on tap – everything from a light and refreshing lager to a rich and complex stout.

They offer a wide variety of beers to choose from and give a description of each one to help you decide!

The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about their beers, which was super helpful for someone like myself who wasn’t sure what to order.

I’m not a huge beer fan myself, but I especially loved their Doc’s Pale Ale.

It was light and refreshing and perfect for a hot summer day in Arizona.

The atmosphere inside is cozy, with plenty of seating and great music to enjoy while you sip your brews.

Plus, the beer garden is absolutely gorgeous and perfect for spending an evening!

The outdoor seating on the patio overlooks beautiful village of Oak Creek, providing a stunning view of the red rocks of Sedona. They’ve also got a fire pit that’s perfect for a cold winter night (yes, it does actually get pretty cold here!)

Their patio is one of the best places for enjoying an afternoon beer and some live music.

Their on-site restaurant is called Zadie’s Kitchen and offers food menu items like hot wings, brew pub pretzels, onion rings, and more. They even offer some vegetarian options like salad and veggie pizzas.

Oak Creek Brewery & Grill even offers a happy Hour daily from 4pm-7pm, where you can enjoy a pint for just $4.75!

2. Sedona Beer Company

Address: 465 Jordan Rd, Sedona, AZ 86336

Known for: Unique menu items and in-house brews

Located in the heart of the Verde Valley, Sedona Beer Company is a great place to grab a brew.

The company was founded by a local couple who is passionate about beer and community and wanted to find a way to connect the two.

They are big on sustainability and want to take a small-batch approach to beer production. Due to this, they’ve opted to keep everything in-house and use local ingredients as much as possible.

The brewery offers a wide selection of craft beers, from their flagship lagers like their Limestone Lager to their specialty IPAs.

They also have an impressive barrel aging program that produces some truly unique creations.

I opted for the Strawberry Lime Haterade, simply because I am obsessed with the name!

The beer had a nice balance between sweet and tart, and tasted just like what I would imagine if a strawberry limeade and light beer had a baby.

The food menu here also leaves lots to drool over – from classic bar food like burgers and tacos, to more unique creations like the Chorizo Mac and Cheese and the Motherclucker Fried Chicken Sandwich (did I mention they are absolutely killing it with these names?).

Their taproom has tons of seating indoors, as well as an outdoor patio with lovely views of the surrounding red rocks.

The staff are super friendly and passionate about their beers, which was really nice to see.

If you’re looking for an affordable brewery experience then this place should be your first stop!

Not only are they environmentally-conscious, but their beers are also super delicious and come at a great price.

Cheers to that!

3. Mooney’s Irish Pub & Burger Bar

Address: 671 AZ-179, Sedona, AZ 86336

Known for: Best bar in Sedona, weekly karaoke nights

Next up on the Sedona beer tour: Mooney’s Irish Pub. This pub has won numerous awards over the years and has been consecutively voted Best Bar in Sedona by the locals. It’s clearly a Northern Arizona favorite!

Mooney’s is an inviting and cozy spot, with a great selection of craft beers – both draft and bottle – plus ciders, wines and liquor. It’s also one of the only “late night” spots for food and drinks in Sedona, since most places here close around 9pm.

The atmosphere here is super laid-back and casual, which I absolutely loved. You can tell that it’s a local favorite since there were a lot of regulars here.

The dining area is equipped with 4 flatscreen TVs if you’re in the mood to watch a game or two.

And at night, the party really starts! I was here on a Thursday, which just happens to be karaoke night. I had way too much fun singing along to my favorite songs, and watching the regulars put on amazing performances.

They even offer live music on weekends and sometimes during the week.

Food wise, Mooney’s has a large selection of burgers, sandwiches and appetizers, plus a few Irish-inspired dishes like fish & chips and bangers & mash. My personal favorite was the messy Bison Burger – a delicious combination of caramelized onions, melted cheese and garlic butter served with fries.

Yum!

If you’re looking for a night out with friends with live entertainment then this is definitely your spot. Enjoy some Irish classics with a cold beer and sing your heart out!

And if you have a bit too much to drink, don’t worry – Mooney’s even offers a courtesy van with a designated driver on their busier nights.

When it comes to inviting atmosphere and great hospitality, Mooney’s really does blow the competition away.

Just a short drive west of Sedona in Cottonwood, AZ, you’ll find THAT Brewery.

This spot is family-owned and has been in operation since 2012. Their beers are all brewed on location, so you get the freshest beer possible! They have 8 rotating taps with a variety of tastes, from light IPAs to dark stouts.

The owners of the brewery are Steve and Tamara Morken, and they are passionate about their product.

The atmosphere at THAT Brewery is super chilled out and inviting – you can tell that everyone here really loves what they do. It’s a great spot to hang out with friends and chat over a few drinks.

One thing about THAT Brewery is that they don’t have a kitchen, so they don’t offer food of their own (besides some popcorn to munch on).

But don’t worry – they’re surrounded by great restaurants and food trucks, so you can always grab a bite to eat before or after your visit!

They even allow you to bring your own food or have it delivered from one of the many restaurants nearby.

The Morken’s have really created something special here, as the brewery has been consistently voted Traveler’s Choice on TripAdvisor for years.

In fact, I’d say that it’s one of the most social breweries in the area!

They also have a small restaurant inside which serves up classic pub fare like burgers, sandwiches, salads and more.

They have a variety of weekly food and drink specials to check out too, depending on the day of the week.
